Happy New Year! New year, new day, new state, new lots of things. Just spent the past 11 hours traveling through Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, and half of Massachusetts with my cousins and their daughter (thank you so much!) and am staying at their cute little house in Massachusetts until Tuesday morning. The drive served to further develop my repertoire of children's songs and movies, which might come in handy during a game of Trivial Pursuit some day. A smooth drive with minimal traffic (I hear this is rare in Massachusetts) with a little bit of rain and wind, but other than that no precip or storms, and we just escaped a storm that's supposed to dump up to 10 inches of snow along parts of the route we took. This volume of snow couldn't have come on Christmas? For those of you who play the license plate game when traveling somewhere guess what plate I saw? Alaska. If only we'd actually been keeping track...how often do you see Alaska? It doesn't beat Hawaii, but comes pretty darn close.

So, in normal Anna fashion I finished packing a couple days ago (I really like packing...unpacking not so much) and I have one bag (a very curvaceous bag, but still only one) that weighs in around 50lbs. I was pleased to discover this as I stood on our bathroom scale struggling to hold the giant bag and see the dial at the same time, because that means I don't have to pay extra when I fly. Woot, life's small victories. I'm pretty much all set with my 3 oz shampoo and soap bottles, though I was disappointed I had to leave my vehicle airbag at home (one of the many things not allowed in checked luggage, apparently). My backpack rounds out my baggage....pretty impressive considering I usually fill our van with the things I "need" for a normal Denison semester. Annie, Inbar, and Hilary, I had a bit of trouble deciding which clothes to bring from my large collection, but thank goodness I didn't face the dilemma Inbar will when she has to decide which out of her 13 pairs of Converse to bring. I had a moment of panic when I was certain I had forgotten something of importance like as my passport, but it passed quickly. Especially because there's this handy thing called the Post Office that can mail stuff like that in a couple days. Cool, huh?

And that's where I'm at right now, sitting in a cozy house in New England, wishing for snow but overall content with where things are.
